The Bastion Way
Every business is guided by a set of principles and philosophies. We believe it’s important for you to understand the company you are keeping when you decide to do business with us.
Business focused: First and foremost, we are always focused on business – yours and ours. Everything that we do is done with an eye toward helping your business improve and succeed. This in turn brings us success.
Here are the principles that guide us:
Education vs. Sales: We give you the information you need in order to make a good buying decision versus simply trying to sell you something.
The days of the “sales pitch” are long over. People are highly educated and highly informed. Our approach is to understand your business to the point where we can provide you with both recommendations and the reasoning behind those recommendations. It’s then up to you to choose; first if you want to do business with us, and second, which products and services make the most sense.
We’ll happily tell you everything you need or want to know about web design, search engine optimization, email marketing, conversion tracking, and more. You’ll learn how they work and their likely impact on your company.

Quality vs. Quantity vs. Perfectionism: We believe a focus on quality has stood the test of time. This is differentiated from perfectionism which typically does not return good value.
We approach all projects with quality in mind. In production, we don’t cut corners where this quality is concerned. We’re able to accommodate different budgets and priorities by adjusting the scale and scope of a project and its components without sacrificing quality.
With that said, we rarely strive for perfection. Perfection is a trap that can double the cost of a project, offer little in return, and is usually subjective anyway. Additionally, this industry moves so fast that perfection is a fleeting accomplishment at best. The perfect website changes as fashion changes, the perfect search engine marketing strategy becomes flawed the moment Google adjusts its algorithm.

Relationship vs. Transactional: We’re set up to foster long term relationships with our clients and the “give and take” that this entails.
Making a buying decision is an expensive process. It costs you time and resources to investigate which vendor is best for you. In areas of technology this is doubly true (due to the rapid pace of change). A strong long-term relationship is by far the most cost-effective, low-risk, high payback option.
From our perspective, taking a long term approach with our clients enables us to offer the high level of quality and service that we’re dedicated to. Ours is not a commodity or transactional type of market. Success demands an intimate knowledge of how our clients do business, their comparative and competitive advantage in their marketplace, and the resources they can bring to bear. This knowledge takes time to build and understand.
By taking the time to understand your business more fully and on an ongoing basis, we can provide better web design, better Internet advertising, highly focused conversion analysis and foresee what your future Internet marketing needs may be. We can then prepare for them accordingly.

Holistic vs. Specialist: We view business, web design, and Internet marketing (driving and converting traffic), as interrelated and interdependent.
Often Bastion Internet is viewed as a specialist company (in web design and Internet Marketing). However, we view ourselves as multi-disciplined and holistic.
Competing firms are often much more specific. They may do only web design, only Search Engine Optimization (SEO), only Landing Page optimization. This tends to limit the overall Internet success of the client.
We take a holistic view of your Internet strategy - a combination of your company’s overall strategy, your web presence, and how you use the Internet to market your website. These components all interact with one another, and component strategy and execution need to be in balance.
A specialist focusing on SEO isn’t motivated to consider the effects their actions may have on a website’s design (and its overall effectiveness). A specialist focusing on web design isn’t motivated to ensure good potential search results. A pay per click specialist won’t benefit from the statistics a search engine optimization program has generated. Our holistic approach looks at the relationship between them all.

All-term vs. Short term vs. Long Term: A good plan and its execution will allow you to win in the short term, the mid term, and the long term.
Knowing that we need to rely on our clients for repeat business means that we make recommendations and perform our work with the short term, the mid term, and the long term in mind. The initial project has to meet your immediate needs as well as set the stage for future success.
You may choose to start off with a Pay Per Click program to drive more traffic to your site. If it’s successful, your next step may be Landing Page design and optimization. This in turn may prompt you to explore a full website redesign to further increase website conversions.
At each engagement, we’re taking steps to succeed in that engagement and to set up success at the next level (should you choose to pursue it down the road). By keeping both your short term and long term in mind, we can succeed at both and that’s good business all the way around.
